    Description

    Offering a vintage
    super-rare 1930's AMPERITE RA-1 Velocity Ribbon Microphone
. It was the first ribbon mic ever produced by the Amperite Corporation / New York City. This is a heavy microphone, and has been compared in sound (and size) by experts to the iconic RCA 74B,
    has been physically restored
with the original crinkle-finish black paint. Most importantly, inside, its original
    ribbon motor and transformer
are in excellent shape, tested and
    producing
rich clean fidelity with good output
    .
    (
    Please note:
Vintage ribbon mics are susceptible to picking up noise induced from surrounding electrical components and even audio interfaces.  It is also recommended that you use a pre-amp as vintage ribbons mics generally have lower output.)
Fresh screen cloth has been installed
    inside
the cage to help protect the delicate ribbon and keep the internals dust-free, plus has been hardwired to a
    new
6'  Mogami cable with male XLR plug.
(We can install a 1/4" male phono plug if you prefer at no charge.)
The mic is compatible with any 5/8" stand, and
    includes
    the Atlas desk stand shown
    .
    This is
your opportunity to own an early & historic American ribbon microphone with recording studio/broadcast quality.
