Alexandrite Rough, 2.6 Carats. Rarer than Diamonds!. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.
What's Emerald by Day, Ruby by Night, and more valuable than diamonds!
    It's Alexandrite.
In stones under 1 carat, it costs more than diamonds!
People sometimes call this an "antique" stone, because it was popular in the past, and can be found in old antique rings.
If you're a stone cutter, you know about this stuff.
You also know, you won't get your hands on a good enough stone to make a full carat of perfection.
This is about as good as you're likely to find. No one's going to sell better rough stone.
They'll cut them instead, and get far more money.
I bought these from a little old lady, who got it back in the 50s when bowling and rock hunting were the only fun around.
She brought it out as one of her treasured store items.  She also had some tanzanite, and a green garnet.
The small clear stones you see in the pictures will facet to a good jewel, but it'll be very small.
I have no idea about the dark one. It might in fact be the best stone in the lot.  With a bright LED light shining through it, it's obvious there's a large clear section. But there's a flaw on the surface on one side, and it's discolored.
My guess, it'll make a nice round with lots of color.
The larger one is a mystery. There's a clear region in there.  But how many flaws are ok to keep?
I don't know. The main thing is, if you want to be a stone cutter, you need to cut everything.
    That's how you learn.
This is a fairly hard stone, so probably ceramic wheel and diamond paste for the polish.
